Why do currency prices go up and down?

Prices move because of supply and demand. When more people want to buy a currency than sell it, the price goes up. When more want to sell, it goes down.

It works like concert tickets. If everyone wants a ticket and there are only a few, the price climbs. If nobody wants them, sellers drop the price.

News, interest rates, the economy and big companies moving money all change how many people want a currency at a given moment.

A chart is just a picture of those buyers and sellers meeting, one trade at a time.
