Refund policy

We want you to feel good about paying for Candleread. Here's how cancellations and refunds work in plain English.
Pro Founder ($19.99/month)
Cancel anytime from your account billing portal. When you cancel, your Pro access continues through the end of the current monthly billing period — no mid-period charges, no surprise renewals. Your streak, XP, achievements, and lesson progress stay on your account forever, even after you cancel. If you decide to come back, sign back in and the curriculum picks up exactly where you left off.
Pro Founder pricing is a launch rate reserved for the first 500 founder seats. As long as your subscription stays active and uncancelled, you keep the $19.99/month rate. Once the Founder cap closes, new Pro subscriptions move to the public $29/month rate.
Billing errors and accidental charges
If you were charged in error — duplicate charge, charge after a completed cancellation, or a renewal that fired despite a cancel request — email us at hello@candleread.com and we'll refund the affected charge. Real humans, real answer, no scripts.
iOS purchases
Apple handles all iOS in-app purchase refunds per its policies. You can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not override Apple's decisions on iOS purchases. If your iOS refund is granted by Apple, the corresponding entitlement is removed from your Candleread account.
Cross-platform note
Your subscription is unified across web and iOS. If you bought Pro Founder on the web and your account is also signed in on iOS, the iOS app recognizes the entitlement from the same account; the same is true in reverse for App Store purchases. A refund on one platform removes the entitlement everywhere.
How to cancel or request help
The fastest path is your account billing portal — cancellations process instantly and you keep access through the end of the paid period. For anything else, email hello@candleread.com with your account email and the approximate date of purchase. We respond within 48 hours on weekdays. Approved refunds typically clear back to your card within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
Disputes and chargebacks
If you believe a charge was made in error, please reach out to us first — we resolve nearly every dispute directly. Chargebacks are a last resort; they result in fees on both sides and lock your account while the dispute is reviewed.
